The principal objective of the research project is to identify the thickness of an advanced
composite adhesive material used as part of a glued connection of wooden surfaces. The active
ingredients of the proposed adhesive material include an epoxy matrix and a glass fiber fabric. The
author has analyzed the bearing capacity and deformability of the proposed connection in relation
to the thickness of the composite material. The author used the methodology of assessment of the
bearing capacity of wooden structures developed by professor Yu.M. Ivanov. For the purposes of
development of optimal parameters of the "QM Glued" connection, the author identified the optimal
ratio of b, or width of the surface of connected elements, and the thickness of the composite material:
t = 1/40 b.

Introduction. Researched is conducted to determine the possibility of using an alternative method - laser cleaning. Laser systems have proven themselves in many areas and are a high-tech and effective solution for many construction problems. Despite this nowadays sandblasting is the most common method of processing contact surfaces of high-strength bolted joints - an outdated technology, with high equipment wear and even dangerous to people’s health. Materials and methods. Sandblast and laser-treated specimens were tested for shear. Before testing, the roughness of the contact surfaces and the tension force of high-strength bolts were tested. During the test, the readings of the meter and dial-indicator were taken. The experiments were carried out on a hydraulic press IPS-500, the samples were provided in a processed form. Results. According to the data obtained, strain graphs were plotted and the shear forces of the samples were calculated. Calculated efforts were compared with standard values. The results show the compliance of samples with the requirements of SP 35.13330.2016 “Bridges and pipes” in terms of strength characteristics. Samples with laser surface cleaning have a safety margin value similar to sandblasted samples. Conclusions. Comparison of the strength characteristics proves the possibility of using laser cleaning of the contact surfaces of friction joints. After the transition from outdated technologies, the process of surface preparation can be made economical and environmentally friendly. The obtained values and data can be entered into a number of regulatory documents, including SP 35.13330.2016 “Bridges and pipes” for future research and the widespread application of the method.

Subject: friction piles in pile foundations and methods of their analysis. A disadvantage of the existing strength design of reinforced concrete piles is the assumption that the concrete and steel reinforcement reach the ultimate (design) stress simultaneously. A disadvantage of the design by soil bearing capacity is the transfer of the load to the ground via the friction forces that arise at the pile «failure» (movement), which should not be allowed in the structures since the pile must be fixed at the soil base. Research objectives: improve the reliability of the friction pile design in the soil base by the criterion of strength of reinforced concrete pile material and by the criterion of the soil base bearing capacity. Materials and methods: investigation of the friction pile response in the soil base using the results of experiments on a trial pile. Results: the article presents the equation for the design of reinforced concrete piles by strength and by the soil base bearing capacity criteria. The topic of design of friction pile is relevant because it is devoted to a deeper understanding of the pile response in the soil base and, on this basis, to the development of pile design methods by the pile’s material strength and the soil base bearing capacity criteria. Conclusions: reliability of pile design results and reliability of pile operation are increased; prerequisites for the development of new design standards are created.
