Subject: we consider the problem of supplying the construction industry, in particular underground construction, with mineral binder for diluted aqueous suspensions that meet the requirements for reinforcement of low-strength sand and clastic soils by injections into the reinforced soil mass. Research objectives: substantiating possibility of using amorphous biosilica in combination with carbide sludge, whose particles size does not exceed 10 mm on average, as a binder for aqueous suspensions being injected. Materials and methods: as raw materials we used: common construction hydrated lime from “Stroimaterialy” JSC, Belgorod, hydrated lime in the form of carbide sludge from the dumps of Protvino plant (carbide sludge, hereafter), active mineral admixture biosilica from the group of companies “DIAMIX” and a plasticizer Sika viscocrete 5 new. Test methods are in accordance with applicable standards. To obtain samples of impregnated soils, a specially developed technique was used in the form of a unidirectional model. Results: properties of the composite binder prepared with different compositions are presented. The optimal component ratios are determined. The following properties of aqueous suspensions are studied: conditional viscosity, sedimentation and penetrating ability. Conditional viscosity is no more than 40 sec on average. Sedimentation does not exceed 1.2 %. Soil-concrete obtained by injection of a dilute aqueous suspension based on this composite binder has a compressive strength in the range from 4.44 to 12.5 MPa. Conclusions: utilization of finely dispersed composite mineral binder, which is based on interaction of amorphous silica with calcium hydroxide, as a binder for high penetration aqueous suspensions has been substantiated. This binder is not inferior to foreign analogues in terms of its strength and technological parameters and can be used for reinforcement of loose and low-strength soils. In case of using carbide sludge, the ecological and environment protection problems are being solved since it is a waste product in production of acetylene.

The paper deals with the development of composite binders for producing concrete with improved characteristics of gas, water and vapor permeability. The authors investigate the processes of composite materials formation in order of decreasing scale levels from macro to nanostructures. The criteria for optimization of the volume of dispersed additives in concrete are offered. The authors theoretically studied the technological features of the formation of hydrated cement stone structure. A positive effect of nanodispersed additives on the structure and physico-mechanical properties of cement composite materials are predicted. Thanks to its improved features, such as good ratio of strength and body density, high density and lifetime, the modified concrete may be used when solving various practical tasks of the construction branch.

Introduction. Wide introduction of fine concretes in the practice of monolithic building construction is limited by their low crack resistance due to considerable shrinkage. To reduce the shrinkage adverse effect on structure and properties of the fine concretes, it is suggested to use for their preparation composite binders, including expanding sulphoaluminate-based cements. Using the fine concrete with enhanced physical and technical properties improves produceability of construction, reduces labor input of concrete casting and allows building installations of complicated architectural forms. Material and methods. To study processes of fine concrete structure formation and properties, concrete mixes were prepared on the base of medium silica sand, dispersed ash entrainment and expanding additive. Activity of the ash entrainment increased at the expense of mechanical and chemical activation. Dispersity of the particles was monitored by means of laser granulometry. The composite binder was prepared by means of thorough homogenization of the basic CEM 42.5 Portland cement and different sorts of mineral aggregates, including an expanding additive based on calcium sulphoaluminate. Maturing conditions at a certain moisture content were simulated for every composition with subsequent evaluation of concrete performance. Results. Results of the study include effect of different mineral additives distinguishing in mineral composition, dispersivity and degree of hydraulic activity on shrinkage amount and kinetics, fine concrete porous structure parameters and strength. It is understood that amount of expansion has an effect on porous structure characteristics of the fine concrete and its strength performance. The study assessed an influence of maturing conditions on the various-composition fine concrete. A considerable influence of maintaining optimal moisture content during hydration on fine concrete technical properties is committed. Conclusions. It is understood that introduction of up to 10 % of expanding sulphoaluminate-based component in basic Portland cement allows to obtain fine concrete with enhanced crack resistance, impenetrability and longevity.
