The supports of a overhead wiring used in transport take up substantial loads both because of wires and constructions holding them and wind, dynamic and other extraordinary impacts. In case of using single-member piles a question about their stability appears. For this reason different sleepers constructions are used. In order to improve the bearing capacity of horizontally loaded single pile supports of the contact systems used in urban, road and rail transport, power lines, etc.., it is recommended to use sleepers as horizontally laid under the ground in the depth of support beams. The calculation methods for different support sleepers of different lengths and cross sections are not well investigated. The proposed calculation method allows determining the carrying capacity of horizontally loaded bearings with soil pieces of different structural dimensions and their location in the soil, which allows choosing the best option for cost and material consumption. The calculations offered by the authors prove the efficiency of sleepers use in order to increase the bearing capacity of horizontally loaded piles and the possibility to chose their size.

The bearings of a contact system on transport, electric lines take up substantial horizontal loads both from wires and constructions holding them and also from wind, dynamic and other extraordinary influences (wire breakage, emergency situations, etc.). In case of using contact bearers with sole bases it is necessary to have sufficient strength and strain capacity reserve. For this aim solepieces with different constructive schemes are applied. The effectiveness of their application depending on their location, depth and length has not been thoroughly researched. In the article the authors offer a calculation method for horizontally loaded bearings with solepieces presented as horizontally laid beams, which are used in order to raise the deformational stability of horizontally loaded bearings. The results of comparative calculations are presented for horizontally loaded sole bearings with beams, installed in the upper and lower compressed zones of soil. The calculation results showed the efficiency of solepieces application with the aim of deformation reduction of horizontally loaded bearings as well as the possibility to optimally assign their size in order to reduce costs for their production.

The issues of bearing structures reliability for energy lines are of special importance in case of the use of single post horizontally loaded pile foundations of power lines and contact system supports. The required level of operational reliability of single post horizontally loaded supports in case of variability of strain-strength features of foundation soils along the route may be provided by using optimal sizes and number of foundation beams creating additional reactive impedance of soil to the loaded support. Foundation beams laid in soil perpendicular to a horizontally loaded support for increasing its bearing capacity are rather widely used. Though the issues of technical and economic substantiation of the choice of optimal sizes and number of beams influencing the strain and bearing capacity of power lines and contact system supports haven’t been studied enough. Basing on the experimental and theoretical studies the authors proposes his assessment of technical and economical efficiency of the use of foundation beams depending on their geometrical parameters, the amount and height of horizontal loading on a support.
